Salem Scotland is a registered charity which develops support programmes for children and young people in the UK.

Salem Scotland

Salem Scotland was established in December 2005 by a group of five friends who were inspired by their visits to the Salem International headquarters in Stadtsteinach, Germany, and wanted to make a difference.

Salem Scotland has since served as a valuable contact point for UK residents interested in the Salem organisation’s work, and has channelled donations towards the social welfare programme in Uganda. These funds have already been dedicated to child sponsorship in the Salem Uganda orphanage, and have helped with the building costs of a hospital and school.

We intend to continue supporting the project in Uganda and are also working on plans to develop support programmes for children and young adults in the UK. For example, we are currently supporting an ADHD programme run by Karl-Heinz Grimm. Karl-Heinz is a key member of the Salem International team, with experience in managing successful children’s programmes and activity holidays for ADHD sufferers in Germany. He has recently relocated to Scotland to raise awareness of ADHD and to deliver health and educational programmes to children (and parents) affected by the disorder. His programme presents an alternative treatment programme to the widespread use of prescription drugs such as Ritalin.

Future funding projects include the regeneration of a walled garden at Blair House in Ayrshire, giving children and young adults from inner cities and deprived areas the chance to ‘get their hands in the soil’ and grow their own produce.

With your help we can offer young people an alternative lifestyle to dependency on alcohol and drugs. We would also like to introduce short-term residential self-esteem courses and workshops, supported by an outreach programme into schools and communities.

If you would like to help us continue our work in Scotland, or to make a contribution to the Salem Uganda project, please contact Andrea or Pamela by emailing info@salemscotland.org.uk . Thanks for your support.
